Wet Macula Degeneration

New blood vessels develop under the retina causing swelling, scar tissue and haemorrhages. This can be a gradual or sudden change. Treatment for Wet AMD can involve laser treatment to the retina to 'seal off' the leaking blood vessels. Lucentis is a new drug that is injected into the eye as a Day Surgery procedure that is producing exciting results in Wet AMD patients.
