And What It Means To You

All of the specialist ophthalmologists practising at Vision Centre Gold Coast are Fellows of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (F.R.A.N.Z.C.O).

Both the Medical Board of Australia and the Medical Council of New Zealand have made regular participation in a continuing professional development program (CPD) a requirement of registration to practice medicine in their respective jurisdictions. RANZCO also requires participation by doctors in CPD for the maintenance of their College Fellowship.

RANZCO's membership is structured to assist Fellows to meet those regulatory needs, as well as maintaining a spirit of collegiality and the continuous improvement of their clinical and professional skills. This is done via the RANZCO CPD Program and online learning resources, the RANZCO Annual Congress, and a range of Committees and Branches.

The CPD framework is designed to help Fellows adopt a structured approach to planning their CPD. It consists of three categories reflecting the seven key roles and attributes of a specialist ophthalmologist. Annual audits are conducted to ensure complicity with regulatory requirements.

You may wish to visit the College website for more detailed information knowing that your Vision Centre opthalmologists are experienced, highly trained and knowledgeable practitioners of the latest methods, techniques and developments in their speciality.
