Eye Inflamation

Readily Treated

Inflamation of any of the three tissue layers of the eye is called uveitis. In some cases uveitis can seriously affect vision to the point where permanent sight loss can result. However such cases are most uncommon and modern treatments can control and prevent further problems.

Eye Inflamation

Eye Inflamation

The most common, and usually least severe, form of uveitis is called iritis and it accounts for about 75% of cases seen. Iritis may only occur once but most commonly recurs regularly and so requires regular treatment.

Treatment for iritis and other forms of uveitis may include eye drops, injections, tablets or (quite infrequently) intravenous steroids.

Please Note: Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding with such a procedure you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
